Although this organization has not fulfilled its promises, it has nevertheless achieved much, such as the liberation of countries under the yoke of colonization, the promotion of human rights, development projects in its member countries, mediation in countries in conflict, not to mention that it became the legitimate interlocutor of the continent in the concert of nations.

Unfortunately, this organization, which wanted to be a continental one, had lost one of its founding members, Morocco, more than 30 years ago, following the recognition of the Polisario Front known as Western Sahara by the organization as an independent state. This question divided African countries into two blocs putting the initiatives of the continental organization for an African renaissance in jeopardy.

After more than 30 years, its return has aroused many reactions on the motives, and the positive and negative consequences that will have the return of Morocco.

Its return cannot be analyzed in terms of the interests of each other as many analysts do but rather of the profound message that Morocco gives by entering through the main gate in its natural family.

According to the South African online newspaper The Daily Maverick, for example, this return demonstrates Morocco’s ability to go beyond the old ideals that serve neither Morocco nor Africa to adopt a path beneficial to African peoples, including the Moroccan people. It is also the content of the message of the King of this 6th economy of the continent when it states that: “My country opts for the sharing and transfer of its know-how by proposing to concretely build in solidarity a secure future for the peoples of the continent “.

By its return, Morocco testifies to the value of dialogue in resolving disputes and the ability to listen to the advice of other member countries of the organization as stressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Congo-Brazzaville: “It was time that Morocco returned to its natural family. The heads of state made it understand that even if there are problems, it is better to solve them as a family”.

To return after 30 years of absence makes us understand how one must also be ready to live through ups and downs in the search for unity as is the case of the organization which seeks the unity of the African peoples who knew to wait in moments of disunity to be able to experience this full family reunion. The speech of the King Muhammed VIgives an idea of the joy felt by the members of the organization:”The withdrawal of our country from the organization made it possible to refocus the action of Morocco in the continent, and also to highlight how much Africa is indispensable to Morocco, and how indispensable Morocco is to Africa. How beautiful is the day when one returns home, after too long an absence. We missed Africa and Africa missed us”.

Even if it is time that will tell us the real reasons for the return of Morocco to the African family, by its return, the 6th economy of the continent has just set an example to the rest of the world on a behavior that must characterize the world powers as it did Morocco such as openness, humility, solidarity and the desire for unity beyond the problems that divide us on the African continent.
