World Refugee Day: West Bromwich Albion’s Saido Berahino shares his refugee story

Eventually, the Albion man arrived in England but could not be reunited with his mother until DNA tests proved that they were mother and son.Berahino talks about his experience of living with a new family in a foreign country and learning the English language.Friday June 20 marks World Refugee Day which aims to raise money in a bid to help people who are in a similar position to Berahino’s childhood.

“The things I have gone through I wouldn’t wish anyone to go through,” Berahino told the United Nations. “I thank England for giving me a second chance and making it easy to follow the dream I have always had to become a footballer.”
