Economy of Francesco School

3 March 2021   |   Online School

Starting on 3 March, an advanced training course to rethink the economy starting from the commons.

The Economy of Francis School, an online advanced training course, promoted by the EoF scientific committee, will begin on 3 March. The course will explore the themes of the Economy of Francis starting from the common good. Three months before the international event desired by the Holy Father in Assisi, several initiatives are being organised to animate the global movement The Economy of Francis.

Programme

Twelve lectures and four interactive workshops on the themes of “common goods”: from peace to the ethics of care, from multidimensional measurements of poverty to public health, from big data to ethical finance. The school’s lecturers are leading figures from the academic world, business and society: the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Mgr Pierbattista Pizzaballa, who will explore the link between Peace, Trust and the Economy; the medieval historian, Giacomo Todeschini, with a lecture entitled Franciscan Wealth: at the roots of Franciscan economic thought; and the American economist, Julie Nelson, who will focus on the great absentees from the international economic debate such as the ethics of care and the commons. Speakers will include Cristina Bicchieri, Eve Chiappello, Robert H. Frank, Sabina Alkire, Alex Edmans, Ridhi Kashyap, Francis Dodoo and Jennifer Nedelsky.
