CASOBU
Promoting Small Family-Run Businesses, Burundi
For years, CASOBU has promoted Community Micro-Credit groups, whose members, by pooling their savings, carry out small income-generating activities. In addition to the financial aspects, strong relationships of trust and mutual responsibility are formed between members, to share needs and objectives.
For those with larger capacities and projects, a Community Microfinance Group is being formed that can provide loans to individuals or groups and offer savings services.
The aim for the next few years is to go from the 150 current groups to 450, with approximately 52,500 beneficiaries.
