Mozambique: talks resume between government and former rebels

The meeting was the first since the attack by security forces against a Renamo base, where in 2012 its historical leader Afonso Dhlakama settled.

The Renamo denounces electoral broils by the ruling Frelimo (Liberation Front of Mozambique) and demands an equal distribution of proceeds from recently discovered coal and hydrocarbon in the north. Tension is high in Mozambique also due to the nearing of presidential and legislative elections in October.
