Five Stories Inspiring Change from Different Corners of the World
Stories of people who are considerate of others, of the world around them. Stories of people serving others for the greater good, with the conviction that health and mutual, shared joy are the best ways to build true humanity. Stories of people who, with this noble goal, have embraced the invaluable tools of sport, art, and politics.
It is the other – the distant populations, the diverse languages – which breathes life into the extraordinary adventure that is MotoForPeace, an expedition travelling the world on two wheels. Over the last 80 years they have been bringing support, dialogue, peace, intimacy, and smiles to vulnerable people. In an interview the president of MotoForPeace, Dino Lepore, tells us about their trips, which have crossed America, Africa, Asia, and Europe to date. He shared stories about the most recent trip – to Mongolia – as did Valter and Davide Magnifico, two motorcyclists who have been taking part for some time in these active and truly human journeys.
Sport is also at the heart of our article, ‘How Toronto lives the World Cup: culture, identity, and politics beyond the pitch’. We gathered testimonies demonstrating how the city interacted (positively) with the most famous football event in the world, which has now ended, but partly took place in Canada. This fascinating article shines a spotlight on unity, harmony between cultures, the capacity for dialogue and exchange, and pacifist expressions of cultural diversity.
Sport, as well as health and ecology, takes centre stage in a unique article that shares three stories from South America. The three stories from Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina, respectively, touch on the themes of integral ecology – which is fundamental to our future – and the value of sport. They exemplify the immense power of sport as a tool for shaping not only athletes but decent human beings.
The Re-Imagine Peace Festival, which took place from 10 to 12 July this year in Florence, substitutes sport for the equally noble and invaluable tool of art. The extraordinary event was co-directed by Israeli singer Noa and organised in memory of Giorgio La Pira. We tell the story of this extraordinary festival in our article.
The final article of our July 2026 newsletter tackles the theme of politics – specifically, the relationship between women and politics. Our article reflects on the importance of having a political system where women can reach their full potential, without being treated differently from men. A fundamental challenge for democracy.
