A Summit organized in Istanbul has reunited various exponents of the Church of Rome and Constantinople to dialogue and propose new concrete solutions towards the ecological questions.

Istanbul, Turkey: the representatives of the catholic and orthodox church together with other members of the civil society, reunited from the 08 – 11 of July 2022 for the Halki Summit, a conference centered on the theme of integral ecology. Now in its fifth edition, the event has been organized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople in collaboration, for the first time, with the Sophia University. Four days in which academics, theologians and leaders alongside students and activists, have had the occasion to confront themselves and dialogue, searching for new solutions for a green change in their environments of influence. A synergy born from Pope Francis’s vision, expressed in the encyclical Laudato Si, and of the Ecumenical Patriarchate Bartolomeo I, also known as the “Green Patriarchate” precisely because of his sensibility towards the ecological theme.

What were the fruits of this Summit?
